Tulip Fever

Tulip Fever

31 Dec 2017

A Justin Chadwick film based on the novel Tulip Fever by Deborah Moggach.
A 17C painter falls in love with a young woman of whom he is commissioned to do a portrait. The two lovers decide to flee and start a business selling tulip bulbs, as the whole country is going crazy with 'Tulip mania' speculation. Huge fortunes are then made and lost.
Set in the very Tulip mania period, Hélène Kérillis' album Le coeur Tulipe (the Tulip Heart) tells the story of a child whose family was ruined in the tulip business. He plans a revenge. Will he ever be able to get over and beyond the bitterness? Story based on Rembrandt's painting La ronde de nuit (The Night Watch).
